If you're opening a new individual or family account, the service
provider you select will assign new phone number(s) based on the
ZIP code of the billing address provided in the credit
application.
When adding a line to an existing account, phone numbers are assigned by the service provider based on the area code of the primary account holder’s mobile phone number. They aren't necessarily based on your current billing ZIP code or where you currently reside.
In general, you can keep your current mobile phone number when switching from one wireless carrier to another within the same metropolitan area. In some cases, you can also transfer your current land line phone number to your new wireless phone. However, it isn't possible to keep the same phone number when moving to a new town or city.
While you are welcome to upgrade your phone and keep your
existing phone number, AmazonWireless isn't able to transfer your
number to a new account if an account already exists in your name.
When you sign up for new service and we transmit the information
to the wireless service provider, they verify whether an account
already exists for the individual requesting the service. If an
account exists and you've selected a new individual or new family
account, your request for service will be denied.
If you'd like to use the same service provider and you aren't
interested in adding a new line to your account, select one of the
upgrade options when choosing your phone. Learn more about upgrading your phone.
Your carrier will begin the activation process while your phone is in shipment. The activation process should be complete when you receive your phone and complete the activation instructions (http://wireless.amazon.com/activate) .
