Activating Your Verizon Device

New Customers

4G LTE

  1. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual to insert your new SIM card and battery, and then charge your phone completely.
  2. Turn on your phone.
  3. Activation will begin automatically. If prompted, follow instructions to accept Customer Agreement.

Standard Phone (non-4G LTE)

  1. Before you begin, follow the instructions in the owner's manual to charge your phone's battery.
  2. Turn on your phone.
  3. Dial *228, press "Send," and then press "1" when prompted. You'll be notified via the voice prompt when the device has been successfully activated.

Existing Customers

4G LTE

  1. Visit verizonwireless.com/backupassistant.
  2. Click "How to Get" for instructions on how to download Backup Assistant to your old phone. (You may lose your contacts if you don't save them prior to activating your new phone.
  3. Note: Data charges may apply for prepaid customers. A compatible phone is required.
  4. Turn off old phone and remove the battery.
  5. Dial 1-877-807-4646 from any other phone.
  6. Enter your mobile phone number.
  7. You'll be prompted to provide your Verizon passcode or the last four digits of the account holder's Social Security Number.
  8. You'll hear your Verizon order number read back to you. The Verizon order number will be different than your AmazonWireless order number; that's OK. Confirm it by pressing 1 (Do not press 2).
  9. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual to insert your new SIM card and battery, and then charge your phone completely.
  10. Turn on your new phone.
  11. Activation will begin automatically. If prompted, follow instructions to accept Customer Agreement.

Standard Phone (non-4G LTE)

  5. Dial *228, press "Send."
  6. Enter your mobile phone number.

  8. You will hear your Verizon order number read back to you. The Verizon order number will be different than your AmazonWireless order number; please do not worry that you do not recognize the Verizon order number and confirm it by pressing 1 (Do not press 2).

Phone Only - No Contract Extension

  1. Follow the instructions in the owner's manual to charge your phone's battery.
  2. Please call Verizon Wireless customer service at 1-800-922-0204 to complete the activation process.
