Transferring Your Number

In general, you can keep your current phone number when switching from one wireless carrier to another within the same metropolitan area. In some cases, you can also transfer your current wire-line phone number to your new wireless phone. It is not possible to keep the same phone number when moving to a new town or city, however. If your current service provider denies your number-transfer request, we will cancel your order automatically and notify you by e-mail.

When we process your number-porting request, your new wireless carrier will work with your current wireless carrier to close your current wireless account and transfer your current phone number to your new handset. To ensure uninterrupted service with your current wireless provider, we will not initiate the transfer request automatically. When you receive your phone, you will initiate your number transfer and service activation request based on instructions included with your shipment.

Carriers generally complete the number-transfer process within a few hours, but it can take up to five business days, depending on the response time of your current service provider.
