In general, you can keep your current phone number when switching from one wireless carrier to another within the same metropolitan area. In some cases, you can also transfer your current wire-line phone number to your new wireless phone. However, it's not possible to keep the same phone number when moving to a new town or city.
We'll ask if you'd like to transfer a number to your new phone as part of the checkout process. At that time, we'll ask you for your current phone number and carrier account information. Please refer to a copy of your phone bill when providing this information to prevent a transfer delay.
When we process your number-porting request, your new wireless carrier will work with your current wireless carrier to close your current wireless account and transfer your current phone number to your new handset. To ensure uninterrupted service with your current wireless provider, we will not initiate the transfer request automatically. When you receive your phone, you will initiate your number transfer and service activation request based on instructions included with your shipment.
