great hardware and UI design December 28, 2012
I am a big fan of the phone's hardware design. It rests nicely in your hand. The user interface is responsive and intuitive. There is room for improvement but minor improvements. The camera takes high quality pictures but the color is occasionally off. I would like to see a few apps in the marketplace that currently aren't there but that should change in a few months. The live tile aspect is sleek and convenient for viewing messages and reminders.

Ordered the phone for an upgrade for Verizon account. 1st phone didn't last 24 hours before it just died. 2nd phone seemed to work, but was unable to receive or send text messages. Took it to Verizon, they couldn't figure out why, after they re-issued the phone and a new sim card, still unable to get or receive messages. End up returning phone for a full refund. Waiting for refund, and roll back of upgrade, going to get a different phone at the Verizon store this time.
The Windows 8x is a Windows 8 Smartphone Leader! February 8, 2013

I have been using the HTC Windows 8x for a few months.
Design-wise, you cannot get much better than the Windows 8x. The profile is streamlined with defined edges and soft material which offers comfort and added safety as your hand naturally hugs the 8x.
I love being able to design a custom home screen. I spent the first month on the hunt for the perfect design and then finally realized that is the beauty of the custom live tiles...they are always perfect because they can match my needs each and every day.
The ultra-wide angle camera is pretty amazing as well and captures an abundant amount of your environment when taking photos, even with the front-facing camera.
The battery has been stellar thus far and can last beyond 24 hours without a charge. With so many phones struggling to meet this challenge, the Windows 8x deserves accolades for accomplishing this in such a light weight design.
The Beats is a clear positive of this phone and stands out when compared to other devices, including iPods and other Droid smartphones.
As an added bonus, I love...love...love how colorful the 8x is! I have the blue with an orange case - so fun!
There's a learning curve, but the Red is gorgeous! December 14, 2012

I adore the red color, gorgeous bright scarlet. I accidentally dropped it 2 days after I got it and the screen smashed. I understand there are places to get the screen replaced for about $100 but I have no idea where. I bought a new phone with a clear plastic case that covers the back and am very careful with the phone now. I never had the iPhone, so it is taking me time learning how to use this phone, but eventually I think I will love it, especially after getting sick of my Blackberry!
Not so unbreakable. January 26, 2013
The phone Is fine other than the fact that some of the apps tend to lag, and every once in a while it would tell me I had a SIM card error and would make me restart it. But the main reason I bought this phone was because it advertised gorilla glass which is supposed to be "unbreakable". Sure enough, a month later, I had it in my back pocket and sat on it in my car and the screen shattered.
