Great Phone

This phone is incredible and definitely worth the money. I wouldn't trade for the razr, iphone, or any other phone for that matter. Verizon's best phone!
PROS:
Very fast processor
Great HD display (with nearly unbreakable gorilla glass to boot)
Great sound
Slim
Great camera (lots of options, bright flash, 8mp, 1080p video)
Great call quality
A lot of features
Cons:
Takes ~2.5 minutes to turn on after being powered off
Slightly complicated system (though once I figured it out I loved it)
Poor battery life (lasts about 1 full day with moderate use. The display is what is the real battery killer on this phone though)
Nothing but problems

I just activated my third replacement phone. This phone has the same problems that the others had. It has only 1-3 signal bars no matter where I am in town (other than the Verizon store) which doesn't allow for call clarity, whether the incoming call is from another cell or from a land line. Also, email accounts keep resetting (deleting) from the phone. When I can get the accounts activated they do not sync no matter how many time I force the sync. Verizon says that no one else is reporting these problems. But every time I go into the store I get a different story so I'm having a hard time believing them at this point. They have so far replaced the phone three times, replaced the SIM card and touted the recent software upgrade. None of these fixed the phone. I have never had issues with any other cell phone and I have owned both "dumb phones" and other "smart phones" (from another carrier). The only resolution to this problem that I can see at this point is to purchase another brand of phone because I am still under contract with Verizon for the next 21 months. Ugh!
UPDATE 4/30/13: Verizon finally replaced this phone with a refurbished Razr. I've used it for a year now and haven't had any problems.
I really like this phone

I don't know why I have never had a desire to own a smart phone, probably because LG has never really made one before. This phone is wonderfull and beyond. Does everything I ask and then some. My only complaint would be the battery but that is a whatever, although it would be nice to have the battery last all day. Browsing is very fast, call quality is fantastic, camera takes beautiful pictures (even if you can't). After having this phone a week I don't know how I ever functioned with out it.

My problems:
1. Battery life is terrible. You will have to buy extra batteries to get through the day.
2. Battery almost won't charge when the phone is on. Takes HOURS.
3. Battery gets up to 130 degrees if charging while phone is on.
4. No warning light for notifications. If you miss the sound, you have to keep turning the phone on to see if you missed anything.
5. Screen is impossible to read in sunlight.
6. After 5 days the phone would not turn on. Had to get a replacement.
7. Loaded with useless apps which cannot be deleted and continually update. DRIVES ME NUTS!
8. Quality of speaker/reception is terrible. I have yet to get a good quality phone call. Really bad.
Not a good phone.

The phone is not very good:
The phone call quality is terrible, people complain they can't hear me, and I can't hear them.
There are dropped calls that rarely happened with my previous verizon phone.
It is a little too wide, so is not comfortable to hold.
The battery life is horrible, does not even make it a full day with moderate use.
The phone is heavy, a fingerprint magnet, and has a flimsy plastic case.
I like the camera quality and the quality of the image on the screen, but will be returning this phone to the store.

I am an experienced Ipod Touch user and quite familiar with the Iphone 4S. That's the phone I wanted to buy but was talked into the Spectrum by the Verizon Rep because Apple did not have 4G but the Spectrum did. Why was that so important? Apparently not very. Sure it's fast. But it drains the battery. To solve that problem Verizon suggested I step down the Spectrum to 3G to save battery life. Well, I could have had 3G with an Iphone.
Everyone mentions the great HD display. Sure, if you're inside. Outside, the screen is barely visible in the sun. Again, another suggestion by Verizon reps was to dim the display to save battery life. So when I'm outside or in the car and the phone rings, I have to take off my sunglasses, put on reading glasses, shade the screen, and hope the person hasnt hung up by the time I've gone through these gyrations. The phone is not intuitive either.
My biggest complaints are 1) it's too big; does not fit a woman's hands well and it takes TWO hands to answer the phone. 2) extremely poor voice quality; caller can't hear me well and the caller sounds to me like they're talking inside a can. 3) Battery is the worst ever. I got rid of a 3 year old phone because that battery needed charging every 2 days. I should have kept it because the Spectrum needs charging daily. Boy was that a mistake! 4) There's no Google browser on the phone. 5) pre-installed apps load automatically so every time I turn the phone on or off I have to use another app called APP Killer to disable the Verizon Apps.
This phone is way too big, has lousy voice quality, and is the pits on battery life. I'm impatiently waiting for my contract to end.
Garbage - Get a different phone.

When this phone works, it's a decent phone. But that is a matter of WHEN it works. Both my wife and I got the same phone as they were in a package deal from Verizon Wireless. The voice quality is horrific. You can tell how bad it is when you set up your voice mail and hear your own voice. It sounds like you're talking through a piece of carpet. The battery life is awful and both our phones randomly decide when they want to stop charging. We have both had our phones plugged in, the screen shows they are charging, but you can watch the battery percentage drop, EVEN WHILE IT SAYS "CHARGING."
The screen also goes black at random times, like when you have to type in your 4-digit password for voice mail, making it really frustrating to get all the numbers in. The gyroscope or whatever internal that notices when you flip your phone is either way too sensitive or not enough.
I find myself screaming at this hunk of plastic most everyday. Just get a different phone. Don't care what it is, just don't get this one.
Sure it has a big screen but it feels like you are holding an iPad to your face.

Have had my LG Spectrum for some time now and can not wait to be rid of it.. I am not a phone techie but do appreciate one that does not have constant connectivity problems, be it internet or dropped calls. After a recent upgrade I lost the ability to access my email and various apps would force close on me, as well as the continued issues with connectivity. Verizon began troubleshooting with offering me a new SIM card. I went through this with my previous phone, HTC Incredible, (May 2012) which they replaced 3 times. I gave up and purchased the Spectrum, which the salesman swore would solve my problems because ..'they were having issues with HTC phones'.

This was my first smart phone. At first it was great, but as I began loading apps, the phone started to lag. I took off any questionable apps and I have an app killer but it still lags. The texting stalls so bad that I have to wait at least 45-60 seconds from sending or receiving a text until I start typing again, otherwise texting force closes. Terrible terrible phone. I would rather have my old flip phone than this.

Every smartphone I've had has let me down in some big way, until the Spectrum. Some people complain that the battery life is awful. It is not. It's not amazing, but it's far from awful. The call quality is great. I live in a rural area where reception is notoriously bad. I can count on my Spectrum to have a great connection with perfect voice quality incoming and outgoing. I never lose my data connection.

I can no longer carry on a casual conversation whether I use Bluetooth or the phone microphone people hate trying to decipher the... Garble, Echo, Cut in and out...generally incomprehensible.
Sometimes the type does not go in the box even though the dictionary finds the word and I pick it.
Now the on off power button doesn't work.
Had a DroidX for 2 years without any of these problems.

I did lots of research before I purchased my first smart phone. I picked this up fairly cheap a few weeks ago and have enjoyed it very much. The battery life is very acceptable (even better when you root and freeze the Verizon applications) and the responsiveness of the touch screen is great. I didn't realized how much I would have liked a LED notification light on the phone. Luckily, there is a LG Notification app that (after rooting) allowed me to have the bottom row of buttons flash when I have a notification that I want to be alerted to. Some users complain about the about the LG UI, but after removing all the widgets, I don't have any problems. I don't need a revolving menu screen like the HTC UI because I don't have that many apps on the home screen (and if I need them on the home screen I will add folders).
I imagine this phone will take off in popularity soon (I hope so!).

I don't know why people think LG makes poor quality mobile devices, they have been great and under rated when it comes to smart phones.
The Spectrum (I got 2) has all the specs you could ask for (besides a quad-core processor). Brilliant screen, smashing fast computing, decent camera too. The bloatware does suck, but the LG launcher I've found to be the best. You can switch to alphabetical ordering, though it's still not as visually appealing (app drawer). Using a task killer to kill all the bloatware helps a ton. I use Autostarts to disable most from starting, and removed / froze the rest and the phone runs smooth as you can ask. Speaker is loud. Battery is great, after reading the reviews. It lasts me all day with about 15-20%(moderate use without any wifi, 12hr day), about the same as my old Optimus V. You need to learn how to conserve it, as all the apps and widgets running out of the box don't help. Also turning the screen off instead of letting it time out, (or setting short time out period) helps too. I don't turn on sync as the 4g is fast enough to just reload my email in an instant anyway. Cell reception is decent, but I'm new to Verizon so I can't compare it to other VZW phones. 4.6/5.0

- Sound quality is so bad my friends won't talk to me anymore. They are tired of says "what?". Tech support didn't help.
- My email accounts disappeared. Apparently email and gmail conflict with each other.
- Image viewing and sending took 5 minutes to load for the past two weeks. Had to delete all my photos to fix problem.
- Today my ringer stopped working. If it wasn't for the annoying "verizon wireless" statements, I wouldn't have known I had calls. Removing battery fixed it (for now)
- No battery life. Don't use the phone or it won't be charged when you need it.
- Word with Friends won't download/install.
- I can go on and on.

This phone has phenominal hardware comparable to any other phone on the android market. The true hd screen is second to none.
This is where the compliments stop though. The software (bloatware) drags this phone down. Lg as i have come to find out gets no support from Verizon so even though an advertised promise of ICS was made one has not been delivered and probably wont. I will never buy another LG phone again and hope you as a consumer buy an S3, iPhone 5, Razr M, or a HTC rezound.
There is a reason why this phone is set at this price --------> No Support
What a disappointment!

LG Spectrum Verizon Wireless - Battery is crap! This is the 2nd battery in 4 months. Loses charge even when turned off. Was told today to remove the battery when I turn it off - brilliant 'solution' - then you lose all your !@#$% settings! Avoid this phone, it's an unnaceptably poor performer simply because of the battery issues.

I have had this phone now for a month and a half now. It is my first smart phone upgrading from a prehistoric flip phone. I am pleased with the phone overall, but I bought a dashboard mount thinking I would use it as a GPS while driving. The GPS mount I got with the phone from the Verizon store automatically turns the phone on to the navigation mode. So I thought this is going to be great. I was wrong not more than 30 minutes into a trip the phone overheated and shutdown. I have had this happen both times I have tried to use this on an extended trip. I expect more when I buy what I thought was a high end phone.
LG Spectrum

The LG Spectrum display is fantastically clear and 4.5" screen made it easier on the eyes.
The only negative is the pre-loaded apps that I don't need, which may be the reason the battery juice was drained very quickly.
The speaker on the phone can be made to ring louder as the maximum volume turned on still sounds faint.
Also, the speaker needs to sound better despite the volume turned on maximum so conversation can be heard.
Another negative is attracts finger-prints galore. You may need to get a hard case cover so that the finger prints won't be the art decor on the phone.
Google is not the default search. LG Spectrum came with Bing, which is not a great source for searches.
Otherwise, the LG Spectrum's large HD screen and color display, 1.5 Snapdragon processing speed and expandable memory to 16GB are great.
