basic...very basic March 30, 2013

Reviewer:  JG

As someone else mentioned, VERY low memory. It can only hold a few text messages at a time before asking you to delete them. The TEXT itself on the screen is very large, but the actual buttons are TINY. The "alarm only" feature does not actually turn off the vibrations of text messages or phone calls. If there is an incoming text, you will not be able to send your own text at the same time. Sometimes messages arrive about 20 minutes later. I wouldn't recommend this unless you really don't want a data plan, in which case this is fine.

Complete garbage March 28, 2013

Reviewer:  HoorayBeer

Absolutely awful phone. I feel like a took a major step back in terms of phone technology. The crappy thing can only hold like 45 messages (What is this 1996?), it's constantly turning off and me, it can't read the memory card I have, and half the time I set the alarm it doesn't even go off! Avoid this phone at all costs. I feel more taken advantage of than a drunk girl on prom night. Verizon BLOWS!

ZTE Adamant March 27, 2013

Reviewer:  Joe

I received this phone for my birthday, and the reception on the phone is wonderful. The texting is great. The best part is that there is a feature where one can look at the previous texts one composes and one receives. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this cell phone. 5 stars (*****)!

Time is Off March 13, 2013

Reviewer:  R. Stroebel "CHEESE"  (Wichita, KS) -

This phone has problems keeping the correct time. It has been off anywhere from 1 hr. 15 minutes to 6 hours. This is problem for many reasons:

1. You can't use it as a clock
2. You certainly can't use it for an alarm clock - Unless you love the unpredictability of when you might get woken up. Kind of like Russian Roulette - alarm clock style.
3. You cannot know the real time you receive calls from other people.

I have had to get a replacement for this same exact phone 3 times because of the warranty. I have had the same problem with each phone. Verizon has been cooperative in working with me under the warranty and now perhaps getting approval for a different model. However, it has been very inconvenient for me.

Consider this March 5, 2013

The HTE Adamant is a good device, but, the dialing feature is it's weakness. Look closely at the picture of the device. The numbers for dialing a call are the same color (red) and size of the other buttons. In low light, it is very difficult to dial a number. As others have said, the buttons are very small. I went from a LG Accolade flip phone to this and I miss my flip phone. Keep in mind, I do not text a lot. I chose this device for its better than average battery life and a decent camera with an appropriate size screen.

Pros
Good battery life. 2-3 days for between charges for me.
Nice size screen. Clear with decent picture quality.
Good camera.
App friendly
Slim/sleek design for in pocket

Cons
Button commands are a bit slow to react
Numbers are difficult to see for dialing

Garbage February 6, 2013

Reviewer:  Jimmy Choo

BEWARE!!! I had this phone for a day. Plugged it into the computer. It tries to update and FROZE. Now my contract is in limbo, I have no phone, and still paying service. I am told I have to eat the activation fee of 35 dollars per phone (2 x 35 = $70). I sincerely hope this is not the case because it will be one of the greatest bait and switches I've ever seen from a "respectable" name-brand company. Will update as soon as this thing is resolved.... Until then, WATCH OUT!!

Good phone December 11, 2012

Reviewer:  Chels85

I got this phone when my old one died, and I liked that it had the full keyboard across the front. I always wanted a Blackberry (for the look), but didn't want to pay for a data plan--although I do have the $10 data plan on mine, which I never completely use. This phone seems pretty easy to use. The keyboard takes a bit of getting used to, but it was ok. My last phone had a touch screen which I didn't mind, but I don't miss it now that this one is not touchscreen. I have had less problems browsing the internet with this phone than the touchscreen phone, as it would always scroll too fast for some reason. The only issue I've had with the Adamant is that it has shut off and turned back on twice already today, so hopefully that won't turn into something big!

A great phone for those that would not want to pay minimun $30/month for data plan October 31, 2012

Reviewer:  LTaylor  (Sunnyvale, CA) -

I've had this phone for over a week and absolutely love it. It's a basic phone with web mail (optional, $10/month), web browser (option to pay for data plan, as low as $10/month), calendar, clock, text, camera and etc. Since I have no need to constantly checking email and updating my FaceBook, this phone is perfect. I work in front of computer all day and go on FB in the evening so I prefer a non smartphone so I could hang out and talk to my family and friends when I'm out and about. The phone is light and very pretty. It looks almost like a blackberry. I got it for almost 10 days and only need to charge it once. I think the battery could last up to 10 days without use. I highly recommend this phone to everyone who needs a good basic phone.

ZTE Adamant - What a TIME I had June 19, 2012

Reviewer:  Debbie Best

I purchased my ZTE Adamant from a 3rd party vendor Verizon store. I was pleased with my little phone and was settling in to using it and learning the features. Around 3 p.m. I checked the time on my little phone to find that it was indicating that it was around 5:30 about 10 minutes later the time on the phone was 7:20. I called *611 (VZW support) and was told to take the battery out in order to reset the phone. I did that and the correct time displayed. The next day, at a different time, the same thing happened. I took the phone into the store from which I had made my purchase. They fiddled with upgrades and said it should be fine. I drove across town, checked my time and again it was off. I took it to a corporate VZW store where they too fiddled with updates and said it should be fine. I drove 40 miles to my home, checked my time and it was AGAIN off. I called *411 and found that they could not send me a new phone since I had purchased mine from a 3rd party. The next day, I drove the 40 miles back to the 3rd party vendor for a phone replacement. Luckily, they were out of the Adamant and I got an LG Cosmos which I have been very happy with.
I know the main feature of a phone is not the clock but, I have come to rely on the clock, alarms, and calendar reminders and consider them to be an important feature of a cell phone.
I also did not find that the sound quality was great on the Adamant I had.

was very happy until some buttons begin to fail from time to time May 14, 2012

Reviewer:  nemrac  (USA) -

I have had this phone since mid-Feb and have been very happy switching from a basic phone with just a number keypad. I only use it for calls, texts and taking the occasional pictures. Call quality and battery life have been great. It is a little slow but I don't mind that for the price. However, some of my buttons began failing from time to time in the past month (the z/7 row). Now I can't call some numbers unless I use the voice dialing, which takes at leaset half a minute to activate. I also have to rephrase my texts when the "n" button decides not to work. The worst is not able to enter voicemail password! AmazonWireless has a 30 day return policy and so I am hoping Verizon would solve it under the one year warranty. So far the tech support has been very responsive (using the preprogram warranty center number on the phone, I got to talk to a real person in less than 30 seconds!) - suggesting I take out the battery while phone is still on. It didn't work at first, but then all buttons work fine after an hour. I hope that would last and that it won't fail after the warranty is up! I don't see a better texting Verizon phone on the market so I may even give this one another try if I could replace it for another penny.

First day no problems April 23, 2012

Reviewer:  ReddHead

So far, this phone has been great! Originally I had the LG Cosmo, but my contract was up and my old phone was showing wear and tear. The Adamant is easy on the eyes and is easy to navigate. I am a little afraid of how it will take to me dropping it (I tend to drop my phone alot). It is light wieght and slim, so you can easily put it in your pocket. The only difficulty I am having is putting music on it; I did not find anything about putting music the phone in the little books that you get with it. I have been happy with the call quality on my phone. I am not sure on how the texting format is because I do not have texting.

Not worth the $, unless you get it free... April 18, 2012

Reviewer:  Tejas Flower

Got this phone as a replacement phone. The letters and numbers are so tiny, you need a magni-fine glass to see them! And I have 20/20 vision.

The SD Card never would load pictures, even if you did it through Verizon BackUp Assist program, it would say the the sd card had pictures on it, but when you went to find them, it said none found, same for music too.

Set Up was not easy either, and texting screen was hard to figure out too.

The concept and look were good though in theory.

The worst phone I've ever used November 1, 2012

Reviewer:  paige  (AUSTIN, TX, US) -

The buttons take foooorever to respond. The camera is horrible. Also when I text the letters will either not appear (the button doesn't respond) or it will put it in twice. It takes me forever to text.

if you're over 50, pick another phone September 5, 2012

Reviewer:  P J Gino

If I had been able to view this phone at a local retailer, I would never have wasted my time & Amazon's in ordering it! The numbers are printed in dark red on a black key, microscopically small. My fault for thinking the screen would be a touchpad like my son's smartphone. Also A/W's HELP website does not provide ANY information or support regarding this device, nor could the Amazon customer service rep.

Looks can be deceiving. June 6, 2012

Reviewer:  ArcadeEdge

I've had this phone for about 6 months now. After about 4 days of using the phone I noticed some dust under the screen. I thought I had a defective unit so I got a replacement. But the same issue appeared with the replacement. Poor design issue. The keyboard is a bit small and it takes a while to get use to. The phone is also quite slow. Not unbearable, but I do notice some lag when receiving text messages and when I'm turning off/on alarms. I'm not sure if it's just my phone or me, but sometimes the alarm doesn't go off when it's supposed to.

I also don't see why they did not incorporate a flash light into the phone since it does have a flash option for photos. That would have been nice.

Overall, if you want a basic phone, go for it. I just don't think it'd be worth it.

Absolutely the Worst Phone I Have Ever Used June 22, 2012

Reviewer:  David

This phone is so bad I do not even have a clue where to even start. If it isn't busy calling random numbers while it's in your pocket, then it will probably send a voicemail to your girlfriend when you go on a bike ride. Not to mention it will lose service every 30 seconds and send/receive messages about 2 hours after it's supposed to receive them. On the whole drive from Denver to Colorado Springs have I not seen the no service symbol disappear. The worst part about it is that I checked my plan and everything should be fine. Even using a texting app on the ipod works better then using this piece of trash. This phone does not have a lock button so you have to either wait for it to lock itself or just slip it in your pocket and hope that nothing happens. Oh, and don't forget the fact that the volume limit for listening to music on it is so low that you have at least about a 900watt amplifier to hear anything it plays. Not to mention you need a magnifying glass to even see the keys... I still wonder why they but dark red numbers against a pitch black keyboard so it is impossible to see what you are dialing. I can't even look at the dang thing anymore without feeling at least the least bit angry about how poorly this phone functions.
