This phone is just terrible. Crashes, freezes, horrible battery life, and i restarts itself after about a month of use. It was very cool while it lasted but if i could, i would go back in time and i would never buy this phone. Who wants to have to reset over and over again. Having to pull your battery out for 30secs every day because of it's constant daily crashes! Stay away and DON'T BUY!

Web browser would always freeze, causing me to have to pull the battery. Every day it would freeze at least once. The maps feature would freeze as well. This was especially frustrating when I needed to get quick gps guidance when I took a wrong turn. Accessing the photo gallery was a certain freeze. I would sometimes restart the phone on my own before I clicked the gallery lol Finally managed to get rid of it and don't regret it one bit. I was missing out on what a real smartphone should be.

This phone is so bad it never works when you want it too. The messaging app keeps on crashing i want to write a short text to my friend which ends up taking 20 minutes from it crashing. Scrolling through the home screen takes forever this phone is so laggy. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PHONE. When my contract is up im smashing this phone with a hammer then setting it on fire.

This phone sucks. Just before I wrote this message it froze up and I had to turn it off and back on. It freezes all the time and no company wants to buy this pbone because they said it was a piece of shit basically. I just ordered a new phone and I can't wait to get rid of this one. If you want to buy this look past the good reviews and listen to me. DON'T GET THIS PHONE!!!!!!!

I've had this phone for over a year and overall I really love it. Yes, it does freeze up sometimes but it doesn't take long to unfreeze it (doesn't freeze on a frequent basis). I type a lot of emails and texts so I really love the keyboard for that (I hate typing on a touch screen). It's also cute :)

it really depends on what you're looking for. some of my friends have become accustomed to typing without a keyboard, some curse it every single time they use it. as an avid texter, i personally HATED typing/swiping on a touch screen and could not get used to it. i have had a mytouch and an ipod touch. i use both sparingly, mostly just to browse the web and for games.

pros - **KEYBOARD**, live wallpaper, easy mp3 downloader, lots of free apps

con - occasional freezing (tho that occurs on my ipod touch and mytouch as well, but more frequenlty on the sk), haven't/harder to jailbreak/root-but this isn't very important since most of the apps i want is avail for free anyhow. i just enjoy the challenge of it.

overall -- you really just gotta ask yourself what are you willing to live with and without? for me, the frustrations of autocorrect on the ipod touch (yes i know you can disable it, but it seriously sucked even more without the autocorrect since the keys are so close) or the occasional program close. i don't regret this purchase because i was sick and tired of typing on a touch screen -- to the point that i rather just wait til i was in front of my computer and shoot them an email instead. but if i do need to browse the web, admittedly i prefered the ipod touch (but then i never hooked up my sk to the wireless at home).

every mobile device will have its setbacks. just prioritize your needs and that'll help you decide whether a sk is the right phone for you.

This phone is super glitchy, turns off all the time and restarts itself. Freezes, randomly clicks on things. Sometimes the touch screen doesn't respond.

While I was excited to have this phone ,since I had all previous sidekicks I was very disappointed in it. To many glitches and being laggy. They should have kept working on this one before it was released.

my t-mobile reception is great and the battery life is very good; but, I am really disappointed with this phone. I wanted to give it a few weeks before I said anything. It did take me a while to figure out how to turn on data (why was this off?) and it kept resetting to plane mode at first. Anyway, some situations seemed resolved, but...

A lot of apps crash.
The phone tends to hang and I have to unplug the battery becuse it won;t restart.
While I am in the middle of texting, the keyboard keeps turning off - or going to search or something.
The way the power button is set up it must get hit a lot because it pocket dials a lot. Once, when taking it out of my pocket, I even found my phone on a purchase page in the marketplace.
It only lets you send a text to 10 people at a time
The camera turns on unexpectedly a lot and then won;t turn off - in addition, the modal window to shut down the phone loads over the camera and when you try to click the shutdown option it takes a picture instead

I was looking to replace a MyTouch 3g with a modestly priced touch screen phone. That phone turned out to be the Sidekick 4G with its physical keyboard. And as for the Pros, that keyboard ended up being the only major plus. But other minor positives were a responsive touch screen, long battery life, and the Wi-Fi calling.

Here's the NEGATIVES: It's big, it's heavy, it feels slightly cheap, the USB/charging slot cover is annoying to open, the phone charger is extremely cheap, the camera is only 3g with no flash, poorly placed buttons, poor volume control, the Cloud Text feature is a joke, and the screen is virtually unreadable in sunlight.

Let me explain. This heavy and bulky phone will not fit into any cell phone holder your midsized car has to offer. Plus, it leans quite far out of the cup holder. The plastic case and the big buttons give it a cheaper feel. When going to charge the phone, if you don't have a decent fingernail, you'll never get the USB cover open. The charger is so cheap you'd think it was a replacement knock-off. The camera takes decent pics, but using it is a complete pain. First, the physical camera button is placed opposite the power button. So when you go to take a photo, you accidently turn off the phone. And because of the phone's size, you need to use both hands and your other hand tends to get into the camera shot. The loud speaker can be great when needed, but it should be responsive. I've had the volume one notch above vibrate and the email notification was still audible 10 feet away. The touted Cloud Texting was a major selling point for me so I tried it via my iPad 2 - pitiful. The website layout and text functionality was poor. I'd be embarrassed to advertise it. And lastly, I was floored when I walked outside and literally had to find shade in order to vaguely see the icons on the screen.

I've had the phone for 2 days and it's going right back.

This phone is a joke!! Very bulky and cheap feeling. I am on my second phone and am still having problems with the screen going black and becoming unresponsive. This requires a reboot every time. The battery life is decent, even with all notifications and syncs turned off. Charging takes about 5 hours to fully charge from 20% battery remaining. Text notification sounds randomly change, which is very annoying. Screen is hard to see outdoors, even at brightest setting. Save your money and buy a better phone!
