WHY?!?!?!?

why is all I can ask of the following things:
*constantly "forcecloses"
*dragging and swyping delays
*delayed opening-forget telling someone "let me show you something right quick!"...
*swype spell correct has you remove a word, but it still haunts you
*sends phantom messages (don't ever send someone "when are you coming over", sure enough, the phone will send that message 2 weeks later, making you look like a stalker)
*FREEEEEEZE SCREEN FREEEZE!!!
*this just happened: I turned off the vibrate notification, its vibrating notifiers any way!!!
I do not like this phone at all! and if it weren't for that blasted 2 year contract I would toss it in murky green chicago river and laugh devilishly while it dies a slow death-how ironic...thats how I feel dealing with this phone, that it's laughing at me while it torments me to a slow agonizing phone enraged death!!!
I've owned this for about 6 months...

I've owned this for about 6 months. The T-Mobile service is great where I live (AT&T coverage was terrible). I love the option of the software swype keyboard or the slide out hardware keyboard. The navigation is also pretty damn good. Pretty much replaced my Garmin.
The major drawbacks come from the rest of software. The camera keeps turning on at the most inopportune moments and then you can't turn it off with the home (or any other) key. You end up turning off the display, turning it back on and hitting the home key. Sometimes it's even more difficult than that. This morning I received an important call and as I picked up the phone, the camera turned on inexplicably and I couldn't turn it off in time and missed the call. The phone was ringing the whole time as I was trying to answer the call!
It also has a habit of starting up lots of programs unexpectedly while it's in my pocket. I'll notice my pocket getting really hot and I'll pick up the phone and it's HOT. I use "advanced task killer" app to turn off all the programs it starts.
The printed manual it comes with is extremely minimal and the software one is pure text and poorly organized/hard to read.
The main reason to buy this phone is for the slide out keyboard. Otherwise, it's sort of a clunker.
Software bundling leaves much to be desired

I bought this phone because T-Mobile wouldn't support the 3G capabilities of my Nokia N85 factory phone. The phone itself is a battery hog. I had to charge it twice a day on high use days. It does have a fast boot up, but you'd expect that of a linux based system. My big problem came with the software bundled in with the operating system. The phone came with games, but it didn't come with an app that would allow me to create different folders for music & pictures. I couldn't arrange albums. Sure, there's an app I could buy but it includes a user agreement that forces me to accept third party software(adware). I would think that after selling you a phone that supposedly retails for over $200, the company would put in a software package that is useful. Even windows computers come with useful software. I sent the phone back & am using my Nokia N85 again. I cannot recommend an android phone based on the service agreements & business practices of google.
Loaded with Crapware, Heavy, Poor Screen and Sound

--The out of box experience was terrible, especially compared to the G2 or Nexus one. Somehow, the phone wanted to sync my contacts to some Tmobile server (instead of Google contacts). I couldn't get the phone to sync to my Google contacts, until I searched the internet to "clear the address book cache". I wanted to jump right into linking the phone to my Gmail and sync my Google date. This phone ruined this excellent experience.
--I don't like the stock Swype keyboard and especially don't like that it wastes keyboard space with the oversized tutorial key that cannot be removed. It's just Swype advertising that wastes spaces better used by a key with a real function. I also found that I couldn't easily change to Swiftkey--I went into the keyboard settings and there wasn't a place to select away from Swype. I had to search the internet again to find a solution (press and hold the text box where you are attempting to input).
--I also hate the Sense on screen softkeys--they are a waste of space, with limited functionality. I downloaded Launcher Pro and thankfully, was able to fix this problem.
--Years ago, HTC Sense was useful to cover up Windows Mobile. Now it just gets in the way. This heavy software overlay on Android slows the device and reduces functionality. The MyTouch icons are "cutsy", too large, dated and annoying. Stock Android functionality has been removed and degraded. I love the spartan look of stock Android 2.2 and 2.3.
--One of the best functionalities of Android is its voice capabilities. What is with the stupid "Genius" key (again silly marketing likely not to be used again)? The "dragon" voice recognition seems to work well enough but it destroys the tight integration for things such as using voice commands to input text. On the Swype keyboard, there is no option to use voice input for text, so, for example, to draft a text, one must say the name and draft the whole text in a single, initial voice command. I don't think this is practical.
--I have never seen so much crapware--four games that are only trials and cannot be removed; Yahoo mail and messenger--cannot be removed. Does anyone still use Yahoo?
--I looked at rooting instructions and they are complicated. HTC has made this very difficult. Has HTC forgotten a key source of its success--the wonderful world of hackers at XDA and elsewhere? I have rooted and unlocked my Vibrant and it was simple and created a very fine device by removing Samsung's terrible software and mating the fine screen, thin and light profile and perfect size with Android 2.3. Another great advantage of the Vibrant--once rooted and unlocked, it works well on AT&T's 3G.
--For a "consumer device", the sound is poor. I can barely hear my Audible books through the external speaker, and I need to constantly adjust the phone next to my ear on a call to hear. By contrast, the Vibrant has strong sound. The G2 speaker is not great for audiobooks but it is much better for phone calls.
--Every HTC I have owned (except an HD2) has had troublesome buttons. The Nexus One front "touch buttons" are flakey and require multiple touches; and the "voice" function gets activated all the time by accident. I have trouble getting the G2 touch buttons to work on one try and when I use the keyboard, the volume rocker always gets pushed. On the MyTouch, the on off button is horrible. It is so difficult to find and push, and this is the button one must find to wake the phone. This annoyance alone makes you want to throw the phone in Lake Michigan.
--The phone is so heavy. Quality is good. Heavy is not good. Oh well, at least it will be a good paperweight.
--The screen seems washed out next to the Vibrant. I also like the Vibrant's 4 inch size.
I cannot recommend this phone for anyone, whether beginner or particularly for intermediate or expert users.

This phone looked sleek and seemed capable when I test drove it in the store, but sure enough the phone started acting up within days of purchase. The phone often freezes when typing, switching applications is slow at best, and don't even bother to try to look at photos you took with it's camera-the screen will timeout as you wait forever for the thumbnails to load. I thought maybe if I deleted all the bloatware that came with the phone it would respond faster, yet when I called tmobile they informed me you can't delete pre-installed apps. Also the battery life is a joke. Dont waste your money on this phone.

Slow and the apps crash all the time. Worst smart phone I ever use. I am thinking of reverting to the barebones Android, even if I have to lose the back facing camera function. Last t-mobile phone I am getting, though I have been with them for years, but they have sold themselves to ATT, that's it for me.
