If purchased from your phone, you'll receive two copies of the song: a Windows Media Audio Pro Plus format at 64Kbps stereo is sent to your phone, and a Windows Media Audio 9 format at 160Kbps stereo is sent to your account in the V CAST Music online store for downloading to your PC. And Verizon's Chaperone service lets you easily locate your loved ones from your Verizon Wireless phone or PC in real time. After defining a zone, such as an area designating a school or summer camp, you'll be sent an alert via text message when the Chaperone handset enters or leaves the zone.

5 out of 5 stars Solid replacement phone July 11, 2009

Reviewer:  J. Cristina "Jesus Nerd"  (Olympia) -

So we got on a 2 year contract, and I got the Blackberry 8130. Three weeks later, it gets washed in the washing machine. Friend gives me his Treo, which then stops working, and I'm out of a phone.

Head up to the Verizon store and they tell me that because I'm not due for a phone upgrade, the cheapest phone they could replace it with would be a no camera, no bluetooth, bare bones phone.. however let me tell you, it wasn't cheap.

Walking out disappointed, I look over at Target. Go in, buy the prepay-version Blitz for way less money, call them to do an ESN swap, *228, and presto: a fully-featured, awesome cell phone working fluidly with my contract.

I've owned a lot of smartphones in my day. Blackberry is usually my phone of choice, but I've had other various Windows Mobile and Palm devices. The Blitz has a refreshing and modern user interface, navigates seamlessly, and does not slow down or bug up. Call quality is solid, texting is great with the fully qwerty keyboard, and the added tools (calendar, most notably) have been really helpful for a guy used to more spendy phones!

Navigating around the mobile web has been the least impressive element of the Blitz, primarily because I'm used to 3G phones and browsers that render webpages better. However, Verizon charges half the cost for unlimited data on the Blitz vs the Blackberry, so the decrease there is made up for economically.

Other reviewers have complained about accidentally pushing buttons that lead them to data charges. I feel it important to note that all of the shortcut buttons are programmable. A few of the directional buttons lead to mobile web if touched because they are programmed this way by default. This can be easily changed in Settings. That said, this phone is best coupled with a data plan, anyway. There are too many cool features that would be going to waste without it!

I am very happy with my Blitz.

3 out of 5 stars Dissapointed October 1, 2008

Reviewer:  Patty from NY

I upgraded from a LG White Chocolate to the Verizon Blitz Phone. A new every two bonus from Verizon Wireless. This phone does not measure up to the LG Chocolate that I had for over two years. The voice used to identify calls is often illegable. The phone does not support Get It Now or the online Verizon Contact Backup. The LG Chocolate had all of the features of the Blitz plus it recorded video. This phone is a dissapointment overall. The only feature it has that the LG did not have is a keyboard. Check it out carefully before you buy.

5 out of 5 stars dont know why everyone else is having issues! July 2, 2009

Reviewer:  A. Rhodes

I have owned this phone for a few months now. I don't have issues that the other posters are complaining off for example. Having to turn the sound down to alarm only? You do not have to do this. I use the alarm all the time with all other sounds turned on....how am I supposed to know when someone is calling me if I turn them off.

When the phone is in the closed position the keypad is locked you must push ok to unlock it.

Dont carry the phone in your pocket and you wont have issues.

The pics are not great hey its only 1.3 megs. Yes people your are talking too can sound bad turn off the privacy setting and they will sound better.

Yes the keys are small but my 6'5 hubby whos paws are huge has no problems once he got used to the phone.

Patience people...play with your phones learn how to use them.

4 out of 5 stars I like it! June 27, 2009

Reviewer:  Tenesha James  (Williamsport, PA) -

This is my second cell phone and it's much better than my first. I love that it slides up and has the keyboard but the keyboard keys are small (for those with fat fingers). I've dropped it a bunch but it still works like new. There's only a few scracthes. My big issues are the alarm clock, the phone unlocking in my pocket, and the lack of video.

When I need the alarm clock, I have to turn the sound down to "alarm only" but it still vibrates when I get a text in the middle of the night. So I have to turn off the texting sounds as well as turn the phone down to "alarm only". It's very annoying. The phone needs to be on for the alarm to work.

The phone locks when you slide it down but multiple times, it has unlocked in my pocket. One day after work, I went to check my phone and I was on the internet for 2 hours.

For the price, you would think the phone came with video, but it doesn't. I think it should but that's just me.

Overall, I'd recommend this phone

1 out of 5 stars Totally Unsatisfied March 25, 2009

Reviewer:  Non-Blitzer "Non-Blitzer"  (Urbana, OH) -

This phone is nothing but a real pain. When in the closed mode the phone must be turned off or the slightest touching on the buttons activates functions. What a surprise to know the phone was accessing the internet for 21 minutes before I knew it. It is clumsy and if not opened correctly will disconnect the incoming call. Everyday brings another reason to regret having this phone.

3 out of 5 stars Not what its cracked up to be. November 22, 2008

Reviewer:  S. Holley "handy woman"  (small town, Nevada) -

owned for almost a month. I bought this phone mostly for texting, but it is nice to be able to talk on it too. The sound quality is horrible. The person you are talking to sounds like they are talking into a tin can. It also takes bad pictures, but then it is a 1.3 megapixel. It is a cute phone and the texting feature isn't bad. I liked the qwerty key board. If I had seen more reviews on this phone I wouldn't have chosen it. I traded up for an LG EnV2. It cost a little more but it is worth it.

1 out of 5 stars On my 4th replacement January 9, 2010

Reviewer:  Stephen Csicsek

I thought my cobra radar detector was a POS until I bought this phone. 6 months into the contract and I'm on my 4th replacement phone because all the others just keep shutting off...dead. You turn it on and then within seconds, it's dead again. Verizon won't seem to do anything except give me another POS phone to try for another month. It's a 2 year contract and the manufacture gives a 1 year warranty..... that leaves me paying for a year without a phone once the warranty runs out. Yep, thats good business VERIZON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars Not a smart phone, more of a phone with a GED September 18, 2009

Reviewer:  C. Ingersoll "chucketal"  (New York) -

As a more "mature" phone user, I wanted a phone that would allow me to do some texting with my daughter, but wasn't interested in a full-blown smart phone. And aside from two fairly significant flaws, the Blitz does a nice job. Call quality is good using phone mode, but the speaker is tinny and cheesy. Not nearly as good as speakers in a regular LG phone. The camera is also not ideal. Bright, sunny areas get blown out and what you see on screen is not the image you get. No video either. But the little mini-keyboard is cool and very manageable, even for someone with larger thumbs. Has a very cool, easy to use stopwatch which happens to come in handy in my line of work. Accepts MP3 ring tones and easy to program. Battery life and talk time are excellent. Not a bad choice if you want a keyboard to do some texting and good sound quality from phone or wired headset.

4 out of 5 stars Blitz August 5, 2009

Reviewer:  Siren "Learning Artist"  (Montana) -

I bought this phone through Verizon, not here. But, I love it! I installed Backup Assistant just fine. I have not had any problems with it in any category. I wish it came in more colors, and had video, but I love everything else. The sound is amazing, and people hear me more clearly than my other expensive phones. The keyboard is great. The camera isn't the worst I've had. I'm overall pleased with the purchase. It has more and less options than my other flip phones. You just have to read the instructions and figure it out. Don't believe all the bad reviews out there.
