Phone has issues May 13, 2011

Reviewer:  PM88

Agree with the earlier reviewer in that this phone has software problems. My phone would randomly lock up and I could only reset it by removing the battery. Then the phone would randomly display a message that said something along the lines of "Phone has experienced a system fault and it restarting." I took the phone back for a replacement and the second phone is doing the same thing. I went back and the Sprint Store stated it is a known software problem and a fix "should be out soon." I have not been able to identify if there is anything in particular that causes the phone to lock up, but all I use it for is voice calls...no texting or internet, so at this point the phone fails for its basic purpose.

That said, once a fix is hopefully issued, the phone should fill my needs. It is a decent looking, rugged phone that has the features I need.

Not a smart phone but very reliable phone built tough. January 4, 2012

Reviewer:  customer

If you have lots of friends texting you and your girl friend is constantly texting this is not the phone for you get a smart phone, it's pretty hard to text fast on these phone and search the web. Being that said, I was not looking for a smart phone I was looking for a tough phone that could take a beating and be very reliable and that's what I got. I have had it for 5 months now, you only have to charge once a week it holds it charge for ever I am a maintenance worker and I am alway's bumping against stuff laying ontop of my phone when fixing stuff, these phone takes a beating and it doesn't brake. Once I lost it and it was raining very hard and the phone didn't get damage it's water resistant. The reciption is very good, takes nice pictures haven't had to take the battery off like the other people in the reviews say. The best thing like I said, the phone won't be dieing on you because the charge almost last two weeks and that is a be plus in case of a emergency.

I would not recommend this phone June 27, 2011

Reviewer:  Thalia Stambaugh  (WILLIAMSTON, MI, US) -

I bought this phone because it seemed like a good deal and I need a rugged phone. It is a nice looking phone and the menues and features seemed fairly easy to learn. That being said, when I was connecting the phone to Sprint I was having problems getting it to connect. I contacted Sprint both online and by phone and worked with them for over an hour trying to get it set up, even they were having trouble getting it done. It turned out I was glad that happened because during this process I discovered I was having a very hard time hearing the operator over this phone and when I turned the volume up to max the voices were "Blurby" and distorted, I could not understand what they were saying at all. I returned it because it didn't work for me.

Phone has a major firmware flaw! May 13, 2011

Reviewer:  T. Wyrick  (Saint Louis, MO (USA)) -

I recently ordered new Sprint Taho phones for all of our company's shop employees and drivers, and I'm starting to regret the decision! For starters, several people have complained about a "feature" the phone has, where it will redial the last number called by pressing on the side button twice in a row. If the phone is in someone's pocket, it's way too easy to accidentally do this and make accidental calls! Worse yet, there seems to be no way to turn the function off!

More disturbingly though? About half of the people using these phone have started having issues where the phone acts like it has a dead battery and powers itself off, randomly. When this happens, the power button won't turn it back on again. You have to pull the battery out for a few seconds and put it back in, to get the phone to turn back on.

I tried to exchange one of these phones at my local Sprint store last week for this problem, only to find out that it's a known software problem with ALL of the Taho phones, and they don't have a fix yet! So basically, I can't recommend this phone to anyone until they get this resolved!

(On the plus side, these phones do seem to be relatively rugged, as advertised, and seem to run for a long time on a battery charge.)

Terrible Reception May 5, 2011

Reviewer:  Elizabeth P. Stevenson

I have always had a phone similar to this one and had excellent results with each one. This phone has terrible reception. I purchased it a few months ago and have not been pleased at all. The persons to whom I am speaking sound like their voices are cracking at all times. This reception is the same whether or not I am close to the person I am calling or whether or not I am in town or country.

I would not recommend this phone.
