Very smart for not being a "smartphone!"

A very nice phone! Had to obtain a replacement to my old Nokia (second one to bite the dust), but had to wait until I was eligible for an upgrade. Luckily, the phone bit the dust at the same time as my upgrade eligibility (mmm...).
I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to the iphone, that was a touch screen. The Solstice fit the bill nicely! It is light weight and feels very comfortable in the hand. Very easy to set-up and use, and I'm not the most techie person when it comes to hardware. Battery life seems quite good, especially compared to my old nokia. It is a great alternative to the expensive iphone. May not have all the neat gizmos the iphone has, but it suits me just fine. The touch screen works well, though using the slider to view items further down a list, such as your contacts, takes a little getting use to if this is your first touch screen (slide to the left of the call now link to avoid dialing accidentally). Took a while to figure out how to get the regular keyboard for texting (good thing I don't text a lot), and it works pretty good too. Call quality so far is great---works in places my sister's LG Shine doesn't work in the Bend/Redmond area of Oregon. Reviewers of the non-purple solstice mention this as a problem, but so far I have not experienced any bad phone call quality. Picture quality isn't too bad either.
The fact that I could get it for a penny was wonderful (AT&T wanted to charge me $49.99 had I bought the phone through them!). Glad I thought to look at Amazon before upgrading! Simply purchased through Amazon as an existing user without changing my existing AT&T account other than adding the minimum required data usage. Followed the instructions as an existing AT&T customer and it sync'd up just fine to my existing account. I love this phone! Had to buy a replacement phone cause my kids destroyed mine. One of the last touch screens at&t sales that do not require data package to use which is of no use to me. I picked up the purple instead of the black this time to save myself an extra 60 dollars. Hopefully i can keep this one from the kids. Husband liked it so much he traded up to it as well.
Good inexpensive touch-screen

Good voice quality and battery life. Navigation is easy however unlike most phones you cannot fully configure the startup screen. For example, to view "Recent Calls" you have to navigate through two or three different screens. Another drawback is the "Text Message" indicator tone is fixed and not very noticeable if your phone is more than fifteen feet away
