AT&T Services

High-speed data connectivity via AT&T's 3G mobile broadband data network: The dual-band 850/1900 MHz 3G network provides up to 3.6/7.2 Mbps of download speed, making it possible to enjoy a variety of feature-rich wireless multimedia services, and it gives you the advantage of offering simultaneous voice and data services.

Additionally, this phone is also compatible with 2100 MHz 3G networks found in international territories. (For use outside the United States, an AT&T international data plan is recommended.) When traveling outside the U.S., you can enjoy wireless voice coverage in more than 215 countries and wireless data coverage in more than 185 countries--as well as access ultra-fast 3G mobile broadband services in more than 100 countries.

In areas where the 3G network is not available, you'll continue to receive service on the AT&T EDGE network, which offers availability in more than 13,000 US cities and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. Providing average data speeds between 75-135Kbps, it's fast enough to support a wide range of advanced data services, including full picture and video messaging, high-speed color Internet access, and e-mail on the go.

The full-featured, premium AT&T Navigator GPS navigation application includes audible turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates and re-routing options, and 3D moving maps (additional charges applicable). AT&T Navigator offers several other features to make your commute more enjoyable and reliable, including mobile access to Yellowpages.com. Additionally, AT&T Navigator is the only mobile phone-based GPS service that provides integrated speech recognition for address entry and points of interest search.

AT&T's Video Share service enables you to send a live, one-way video stream to another compatible phone during a standard voice call. The service also allows you to switch the direction of the video stream during the same phone call. (Customers must be in an area served by the company's 3G network and have a Video Share-enabled phone.) While using Video Share with family and friends is a fun way to communicate, it's also very useful for business. For example, a majority of users in the architecture, engineering and construction industries rated the ability to share live video through Video Share highly, according to research commissioned by AT&T. Video Share lets you see progress on a job site or review the day's work without having to drive from an office or other site to do so.

AT&T Mobile Music enables you to buy tracks while on the go, access the Napster and eMusic subscription music services, stream music video, discover what's playing with Music ID song-recognition software, and find out what's hot with The Buzz music news portal.

AT&T Address Book service: With the free AT&T Address Book service, you can sync your contacts to an online address book, enabling you to access and manage your mobile contacts from your handset--or your PC. From the online interface, you can import contacts from other Web-based address books, such as personal e-mail accounts, as well as send text messages to your contacts' mobile numbers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good phone April 2, 2011

Reviewer:  Epic

Just got the phone pretty impressed overall. The virtual keyboard isn't bad but heavy texting isn't recommended, picture camera is decent but not great. Also the amount of hardware included on this phone is amazing for this price point and I would highly recommend the phone.

Pro's
Touchscreen, user interface, tether capabilities, signal strength, customizable applications, excellent battery life, locking tab, great exterior design, Pc studio software works, included accelerometer

Con's
Camera has no flash, virtual keyboard doesn't support multi touch, no headphone jack, web browser isn't that good

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this phone June 11, 2011

Reviewer:  Kiran

This phone switches off by itself every other day. Sometimes, doesn't switch on. Need to remove the battery and put it back to get it to work again.
Sometimes goes into a mode where the screen just displays a white screen, can't power off the phone, can't do anything else either. Again, remove-put the battery does the trick.
Battery life is very poor, on a full charge, might last for 2 days, with 5 minutes of talk time.
Design of the phone is pretty bad as well. They have the 2 buttons at the bottom of the phone for answering and rejecting calls. It is very hard to take this phone out of my jeans pocket without either answering the call or rejecting the call by accidentally pressing one of these buttons.
ATT today confirmed that they are seeing lots of issues with this phone and they are going to replace this phone with a different one from LG.

I have 2 phones from this model in my family plan and both are facing the same problem, so it is unlikely that this is an isolated problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Phone I Ever Had July 14, 2011

Reviewer:  Gina Baratono "Shutterbuggles"  (Suring, WI USA) -

This is, by far, the worst cell phone I have ever had. I have had two of them because the first one would randomly turn on speaker phone in the middle of a conversation so they replaced it. Guess what? The second one does the same thing. I have to turn off the speaker phone at least 10 times during any conversation, and it can't be disabled. I'll take a good old flip phone any day over this thing. I HATE IT!!! Oh - and if you do just go with it and use the speaker phone, the person on the other end invariably says there's an echo and they can't hear you, a problem that 90% of the people I asked about have with this phone. If I could give it 0 or negative stars, I would!

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! August 31, 2011

Reviewer:  JL

Initially, I was pretty excited about this phone because it has some neat features, and I liked the touch screen. By the end, I was ready to take a sledge hammer to it. I was bummed, because I wanted to like it and be able to put up with it, but I couldn't see myself dealing with its idiosyncrasies for two years (the length of my ATT contract).

Similar complaints to those listed above. Turns on and off randomly (uncool while on an airplane); turns speakerphone on randomly in the middle of a conversation (embarrassing not to mention very aggravating while having a personal phone call in a public space or at work); poor audio quality; poor reception; battery life short; battery drains even when the phone is turned off (not sure how this happens, but unacceptable--I need a phone I can rely on for emergencies while traveling); touch screen overly sensitive so it jumps around between screens and buttons, and dials while you're in the middle of a call (I had several people say it sounded like I was pushing buttons on the keypad in the middle of our conversation); some other issues that are not coming to mind right now.

The things I did like about it were the neat shortcut menu over to the left of the screen, the touchpad keyboard was easy and fun to type on (although the "send" button is too easy to hit accidentally in the middle of writing), general ease/fun use of a touch screen, decent camera.

After having the phone about a week, I took it back to ATT and exchanged it for another one of the same kind, in case I had just gotten a lemon. The ATT salesman assured me it was a very popular phone and they never had returns on it. The second phone had all the same issues. I took it back again and of course they charged me the $35 restocking fee, which I was willing to pay for my sanity of dealing with this phone. I plan to contact customer service though, and make my case for not paying such a fee for a product that seems deeply inherently flawed.

I was looking for a fairly basic phone and don't need most of the bells and whistles that cell phones come with these days. This one, however, made me want to throw it off a cliff. My last phone was a simple Samsung flip phone and worked just fine for several years, so there is no excuse for this frustrating piece of equipment, I know they can do better.
