4.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as they say February 24, 2011

Reviewer:  J. Purdun "Jennii Dawn"  (Missouri) -

I recieved this phone as a gift, and with everything that I aquire (though usually before) I looked up reviews of it online. I was terrified. I could not find one good review about this phone. It's not the greatest that there is, but I do think that people are judging it a bit too harshly.

The phone has not locked up on me, though sometimes it does take a second or slightly less to switch screens. Everything about it may seem kind of disorganized at first, but now I am completely used to it and have no problem with its layout.

There has been some complaints about the camera. It's not a bad camera. Granted, no, it doesn't have video, but if you are really that interested in video perhaps you should buy an actual camera to fill that need.

The music player sounds great (I do have a 4GB in my phone, but just about every phone these days benefits from a mini sd), and can go to quite a loud volume.

The full keyboard is nice once you remember where the function and shift keys are in your mind. And it is quite wonderful that it doesn't require any extra button pushing in order to get a period.

So overall? This phone is not as bad as it seems in all of these reviews. It's a free phone from verizon. It's not going to be the best there is on the market, but I have no problems with saying that it is enough. I'm not disappointed with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Simply Mediocre November 17, 2010

Reviewer:  Victor Salloum

Got this phone for the cheap 2 yr agreement price and I guess I got what I paid for.
The good:
*The dimensions are good
*The lock feature is good although it seems to lock the phone very quickly
*Great keyboard, does not require pressing "fn" key for "."
*Will play ringtones, simply email the mp3 file to your phone (look it up on the internet if you don't know how)
*Charges via USB and came with USB to AC adapter

The decent:
*Volume for calls is ok, never had a problem but it could be louder
*The layout isn't very customizable but it is good enough

The ugly:
*The camera is a garbage compared with most phone on the market. There is no flash, zoom is not good, no video record.
*There is not enough space on the phone for a lot of texts, pics, music and ringtones. You will most likely need a microSD card
*2.5 mm headphone jack means you will either scour for subpar headphones on the web, settle for the overpriced version at a verzion store or buy an adapter.

This phone was meant for teens but with enough tweaking it should be good for most people who don't want 3g phones.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is my 7th phone in less than a year April 8, 2011

Reviewer:  Candice Gibbons  (Rochester, NY) -

Got this phone free for signing my new 2 year agreement. After programing the phone the way I wanted it the phone froze. Brought it to Verizon and they couldn't fix it either so ended up giving me a new phone that I had to program all over again. After downloading my contacts from backup assistant the contacts doubled then tripled on my phone. Brought it back to Verizon and again they didn't have a clue what happened and again ended up giving me another new phone. I could go on and on about this horrible phone but I think you get the drift. DO NOT even try this phone, you will be so....sorry if you do!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars THIS PHONE WOULD BE A ZERO IF I COULD RATE IT THAT LOW January 5, 2011

Reviewer:  J. B. HALLMAN "Live Free"  (Colorado) -

It's slow, you press the unlock button, its off in la-la land, so you have to press it again, then it catches up and launches you into some undesired location. It cannot record video with its only-good-outdoors-camera. It has a tendency to freeze a lot, which requires pulling the battery. The worst part is that the freeze lights up the LCD at full power and it terminates itself (or siphons off 99% of the battery while it was frozen in your pocket for 30 minutes, leaving you with nothing to make a call on). I have to charge it daily (And I only talk about 15-30 minutes max per day and maybe 20 texts per day)

I like Samsung, they make great TV's, but maybe they should stick with that market. Do NOT buy this antique in sheepskin. It's literally tech from 5 years ago. My 3 year old Sony Ericsson blows this thing away, in fact I would say the classic Motorola Startac (yes from the 90's) is better than this thing, at least the battery lasted longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Problems With This Phone - A Bargain April 16, 2011

Reviewer:  M. Leahy  (Fairfax, VA, USA) -

I bought two of these phones (one for me and one for my 13 y.o. son) and have had no problems whatsoever with either of them. I wanted a phone to make calls and to text. Since I am new at texting and not the best typist, the slide-out keyboard was a must-have feature for me. My expectations were reasonable. I am a petite woman and I do not find it difficult to hold while texting due to slipperiness and bulkiness (as stated by a previous reviewer). I also bought the Body Glove cover for the Samsung Intensity II for my son (good thing) and the rubber cover does protect the phone. I do not find that the keys are unduly tiny or difficult to type on, especially compared to my work Blackberry (I find it awful to type on it and not hit more than one key). If I want to take photos or film I use a camera or camcorder. That said, I have taken photos with this camera and emailed them to myself and others and they have been great! I have not played music on it but the salesperson had a microSD card full of music that she played on hers and it sounded fine. I use my Ipod to listen to music. Overall, I am pleased with this phone.
