Product Description

Bringing the best of HTC's EVO experience to a sleek, easy-to-carry tablet design, the EVO View 4G for Sprint combines a media player, e-reader, and portable computing device into a slim package with a brightly colorful 7-inch multi-touch display. And with Android 2.3 (a.k.a., Gingerbread), the newest version of HTC Sense, and a 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, the EVO View 4G can do things most tablets can only dream of.

The EVO View 4G can fit places most other tablets can't (view larger).

5-MP rear camera with HD 720p
video capture (view larger).

It runs on Sprint's expanding 4G network, offering download speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. Additionally, the tablet can still connect to 3G data services in areas not currently served by Sprint's 4G network (learn more about Sprint's 4G network below).

It features two cameras--a 5.0 megapixel auto-focus camera with HD-capable video camcorder and a forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera that's ideal for video chats. With integrated HD-video (720p) capture and the 4G speeds of the EVO View 4G, slow uploads and grainy video are a thing of the past.

With Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking, you'll be able to connect to home and business Wi-Fi networks and access large files such as HD video in minutes. You also get the optional 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot capability for sharing your wireless connection with up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously. Other optional add-on services include GPS Navigation for $2.99 per day or $10 per month, and the Sprint Family Locator service for keeping tabs on your family.

7-inch multi-touch screen with pinch-and-zoom (view larger).

You'll be able to rent or purchase the hottest new movie releases on the same day they become available on Blu-ray and DVD via Blockbuster On Demand. Other features include GPS for navigation and location-based services, Bluetooth 3.0 for connecting to peripherals and streaming audio, 32 GB internal memory, expansion via optional microSD memory cards, and access to both personal and corporate e-mail (Microsoft Exchange).

The Pen Is Mightier

Using HTC Scribe Technology, the EVO View 4G offers a new way to interact with a tablet. HTC Scribe introduces the HTC Scribe digital pen (sold separately) to the tablet experience and unlocks new capabilities. You can add scribbles, photos and sound to your detailed notes. Link your notes to events in your calendar and your calendar transforms into a multimedia archive of your past meetings or events.

And when combined with Evernote, a leading notes application and service, you'll have the ability to capture and make notes--on Web pages, e-books, PDF documents, and more--in an easy and natural way. HTC Scribe digital pen also uses Timemark to capture the audio of a meeting at the same time as written notes.

Android Gingerbread Operating System

The EVO View 4G runs the Android 2.3 operating system (dubbed "Gingerbread") which features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation. Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming email and then switch back to the game without losing your place.

A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions.

The EVO View 4G also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day, including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Calendar, Picasa, and YouTube. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you'll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets, and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day.

Vital Statistics

The HTC EVO View 4G weighs 14.88 ounces and measures 7.69 x 4.42 x 0.52 inches. It runs on Sprint's 4G network as well as the 800/1900 CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A frequencies.

Engadget review
It's not often that we feel a keen sense of déjà vu while writing a review, but here we are. The EVO View 4G ($399.99) is a first, but also something you've most definitely seen before. This tablet is, for all intents and purposes, the HTC Flyer: it has the same 7-inch display, aluminum build, single-core 1.5GHz processor, Gingerbread-plus-Sense-combo, 32GB of storage, and stylus for pen input. But, it also happens to be Sprint's first WiMAX tablet to go on sale in the US, with a 4G radio promising download / upload speeds up to 10Mbps / 1Mbps on Sprint's network. And, at the risk of spoiling our review, the View's connection is, indeed, zippy. But does this have any bearing on the tablet's overall value? Join us past the break to find out -- we've got some revisiting to do.

Solid offering in the 7 inch tablet category December 6, 2011

Reviewer:  Sarah K "tech mama"  (Northeast USA) -

The HTC Evo view is a very nice tablet in the 7 inch form factor category. Although Amazon often has very competitive prices on electronics, on this device you can get a better price elsewhere. So with that out of the way, I can say that the View is my go to tablet right now. I happen to like the Sense interface that HTC developed and if you have used HTC devices before it will look familiar to you. It gives you a lot more options than the extremely simple interfaces of the iPad or Kindle Fire, but if you prefer that simplicity rather than the ability to customize you may not love this device as another reviewer mentioned. I love the pen and taking handwritten notes and drawing sketches on the View. The processor is snappy and the View is responsive, even if it is single core in a world of dual core offerings. Battery life is quite good. Sprint is ok in my area, spotty in others so if you sign on for a 3/4g data ymmv. WiFi connectivity has been excellent. The View is comfortable to hold with the rubberized sections on the back. So there you have it. Devices I am comparing to are iPad 2, Galaxy Tab in 7, 7 plus and 10.1 varieties, and the Kindle Fire.

One of the best current options for a tablet (1/3/2012) January 3, 2012

Reviewer:  Brisky

A lot has changed since the release of this tablet that makes it possibly the best tablet you can buy.
In addition to the previous great attributes (fantastic Sense interface, amazing note taking integration):

1) This tablet now features a month to month data plan that starts at 15 dollars for 150 Mbs. This offers fantastic flexiblity.

2) The tablet was also recently updated to Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) The update is readily available and can be downloaded as soon as you start it up & get it connected to the internet.

3) No required contract, you can activate the 4G data when you wish, and deactivate it when you wish. This is essentially one of the best WiFi enabled tablets that also happens to let you use a 4g plan if you wish.

4) PRICE, you will see great deals on this tablet. I picked one up for 219. This initially was a big factor in some of the negative reviews, and since the tablet price has really sunk.

This is absolutely the best tablet if you are looking for something for a student. The integrated note app is invaluable (also you can pick up a Lenovo think pad pen for about 20$ less than the HTC one) And the 7 inch size makes it much more portable than the 10 inch models.

The HTC sense tech is great, and reading on this tablet is a joy. All words in a book can be highlighted. You can take a note on any highlighted section, and then a sticky will appear on the page. You can also see a list of all the notes you have taken for a particular book. In addition, you can highlight any section of text and search that text immediately from the reader app (an invaluable tool for students)

Bottom line, this tablet is just about the best thing you can buy, especially for the prices its going for. Many of the negative reviews, and knocks on this device have been addressed recently. These updates and improvements along with the great price drops really make an already fantastic tablet even better.

If you're in the market this one must go on the top of the list for tablets you're considering.

Great Tablet, Honeycomb coming soon! December 16, 2011

Reviewer:  J. Meyers  (Virginia, USA) -

Bought this tablet as a replacement for my Sprint Galaxy Tab (3G) - I was looking for a 4G unit that would be upgraded to HC 3.2 - This thing fits the bill...especially with the optional stylus. Very intuitive, great screen resolution and huge storage (32 gb) plus a micro sd slot. As of December 6th, Honeycomb 3.2 was being rolled out to these units in France and soon to the US! Also, Sprint allows month to month on these guys too (Only this tablet, as of yet)

After so many tablets this is the one I was looking for December 25, 2011

Reviewer:  MIMO "MIMO"  (US) -

I Never thought this was the one!! after ASUS transformer, Samsung Galaxy 7 and 10.1, after ACER 7 and Sony S, after ipad 1 and 2 this is the one. very fast, Widgets are awesome better than the competition, tablet is so customize you can change Themes, colors, and more. lots of storage, camera is very good, skype video calling is awesome. skinny with a metal back fits perfect in your hand, cargo pants and small pouch. Droid update to honeycomb is the sweet spot for this tablet i only use wifi at home and don't plan to pay Sprint for 4G since I use my droid X for wifi Tethering. Over all i sold all my other tablets samsung with lag, ASUS with bad battery, sony too slow and kept this for myself

One of the Best 7 inch Tablets Around June 18, 2012

Reviewer:  Always Samsung "ravereviews"  (New York, NY) -

This is a great device. I am not going to a long elaborate review because clearly, that has all been done before by other reviews. I am giving a review based on my experience with this device. First off, I have the HTC EVO View tablet with Sprint which requires a monthly data plan. It is not that expensive, so I thought I'd dive into the tablet craze and get one. I had an iPad, but hated using iTunes. In addition, I hated the small memory, and the lack of a micro sd card slot in the iPad. The device is also quite expensive and really should have included 160GB of memory for what Apple is charging.

Anyways, I digress. If anyone is in the market for a tablet, I'd recommend the HTC Evo View/HTC Flyer in a heartbeat without any reservations. This is a well made device and feels good in the hand. I feel the premium quality in my hands every time I use this thing. I only need a tablet to view my movies and do the occasional web browsing when waiting for friends, grabbing some coffee, or killing time on a long bus ride. The device came with Android Gingerbread OS which is like 2.3 and I loved it. I was dumb and did a software update and now I have Android 3.0. I regret every doing the software update. The device lags a big and is less fluid then 2.3. If one gets this device, keep and enjoy Gingerbread. For anyone who has an HTC EVO phone then they can pretty much know what to expect when getting this device. This is just a jumbo HTC EVO on steroids. This device is about to be discontinued and is always on sale for under two-hundred dollars at Sprint.

Pros:
7 inch screen (portability & convenience)
32GB of internal memory
Ability to remove Sprint installed apps
Originally installed Gingerbeard OS 2.3
HTC Sense UI
5.0 megapixel camera/camcorder
64GB expandable memory via micro SD
4,000 MAH battery
Adobe flash
1GB of RAM
Front facing camera for video calls
3G/4G Connection
Wi-Fi
Long lasting battery life

Cons:
OS updated to 3.0 and I regret it
No Super AMOLED HD display
Should come with 64GB or 120GB of internal memory
Metal body can make the device feel a bit hefty
Upgraded to Android 3.0 & regret it
