Awesome! January 22, 2011

Reviewer:  D. Friedman  (Phoenix, AZ) -

I didn't buy this phone from Amazon, but with so few reviews and Amazon being a place I look to for reviews, I figured I would add my thoughts. "Impressed" is the first word that comes to mind when I think of the Style 9670! This phone seems to be geared towards people making their first step into the smartphone world, but it would be foolish to think of this phone as entry level, not only from a BlackBerry perspective, but as a phone in general. I know that some think of the clam form factor as "old school" but in this case, it adds some spice to an otherwise limited choice in form factors. I'm not sure why some seem to treat the Style as a second class citizen when in reality it is the most powerful BlackBerry Sprint has to offer! This has the same processor and memory as the Bold 9650, but it also has a larger screen, "N" wifi, 5mp camera, etc. This phone is awesome! I'm by no means new to BlackBerrys or smartphones in general... I've been using them since the Treo 600 days. I currently and recently have owned a BlackBerry 8330, 9330, 9630, Palm Pre, Palm Pixi, HTC Hero, EVO, etc. After having the Style for a few weeks it's safe to say that it is perfect for my needs. It has a great keyboard, great camera and OS6 runs smooth and fast. The phone does have a smaller battery than most other phones, and while it doesn't last as long as a Bold (which is 30% more capacity) It still gets me through a 16hr day with room to spare. Alot of people are on the Android kick and they think if a phone doesn't have a monster screen and 1ghz processor than it is less of a phone. Some people think that BlackBerry is outdated but that doesn't make them any less useful. After trying other phones, I keep coming back to BB for the ease of use and little things that only BB does right (battery life, sleep holsters, charging pods, shortcuts, profiles, spell correction, customization, etc) Most importantly, I'd say BB is dependable. I can't count how many Android apps I had that would just stop working for no reason or just bugs in the OS in general. Highly recommend the Style!

Stylish November 23, 2010

Reviewer:  Harkanwar Anand  (New York, New York) -

I knew I had to get this phone the day it came out owing to the fact that it mainly has some key features we haven't seen on a Sprint Blackberry before. These would include the flip style, OS 6.0 and a 5 megapixel camera. The phone has two displays, the external display has limited functionality but it does what one would expect it to. RIM has a conventional way of dealing with their software and hardware and seldom become too creative. I like this about RIM because if a formula works, why change it?

I found the operating system has been very smooth and the trackpad is ONLY BETTER than the Blackberry Bold owing to the fact it's lifted a wee bit as compared to the 1st generation track pad blackberries.

The camera doesn't disappoint but the software will take time for you to get used to. I managed to take some really clear shots but taking pictures from a flip phone is not easy, you have to make sure you fingers aren't getting in the way while on a CANDYBAR interface Blackberry picture taking is a breeze.

So the software is fast, the phone starts much faster than the Blackberry Bold anyway, the keys many have complained about, I'm an expert typer sorta guy so I'm used to it and infact now find the Bold keys cumbersome, the phone is light, the ringtones on the new operating system aren't too loud, I often read and preview my emails by just clicking the volume buttons without having to open the flip. The external display is a finger print magnet but I don't seem to mind. The phone is super sleek and possibly the sleekest Blackberry I have ever seen.

Let's get to some more details shall we? The speaker is located right next to the microphone and is loud but not that loud when the phone's face is clamped shut. That means if I'm playing an mp3 with the flip cosed (Just like in the display) , it will not be as loud as when I open the face. Also - the battery used on this phone is a thinner 1150 mh battery called the FM-1. This battery is no good, I find the Style has the worst battery life, I've tried just about everything but then I'm a power house user. I send a hundred texts, a dozen emails, 20 voice notes, hundred BBM messages daily so it does wear it down super fast but this is no excuse. In comparison with the Blackberry 9650, the battery does suffer.

RIM has done a good job with the interface and the colour contrast. Why does the RIM have the LED coverage indicator? I get coverage everywhere I go, I never understood the feature. I had no problems with the speaker and the reception was good. The phone comes with an 8gb micro-sd card and is not a global phone because it doesn't have the GSM capability like Sprint's BOLD.

With some good features, the phone is awesome for the price but overall, I find the BOLD is a much better phone. Let's see how long I keep this and I shall update you on my finds. I wish the battery was better, I would excuse this for anything then. Also a good camera, good speaker phone, good style and trackpad / keypad but average browsing and average battery life should make you ask whether you want it for yourself. I'm a Blackberry junkie, I have to get every new RIM they roll out.

PS - I wish Shazam worked with OS 6.0

great phone for those of us that like flip phones!!! April 29, 2011

Reviewer:  dam

personally i feel better having a flip phone than a open touch screen. the phone has done everything i want it to do and more,i am impressed. battery life has been the only issue. some days it lasts all day and barely drops on the icon. other days it drops like a rock. but i have a charger in my vehicle that takes care of that. also i have left all device connections on...... just not sure why some days it burns the battery up. overall i love this phone.

BEST Phone I've ever had August 1, 2011

Reviewer:  D. Wilson "Paparx"  (South East VA USA) -

I admit this is my first smartphone, but be that as it may, I have been in high tech for 25 years. My appreciation of tech is for its functional, useful ability and design.

The style is perfectly sized, the exterior screen is great for flash messages if you don't wish to open the clam every email. Ive been through the web and not had any problems at all hanging or waiting and I live in the infamous Hampton roads area of Virginia. NOT a tech center with lots of towers. My BB consistently gets better signal than my wife's LG smartphone.
The flip is always my fav, protecting the keys and primary screen. I am outside a lot and my phones get abused.

The keyboard is small. I do wish the keys had more pronounced bumps on them to make tactile feeling easier but my hands are not small so this may not be everyone s feeling.
and the external analog clock is a nostalgic touch I hope BB keeps for all STYLES. Make it Roman numerals or the like but keep the analog clock so I can ask my kids what time it is and watch them strain.

If my Style was damaged I would go right back to it without hesitation. Ive looked around and read, and I like the STYLE.

Okay phone - comes with unknown issues August 16, 2011

Reviewer:  Kevin "Revolution"  (California) -

I had this phone and didn't last more than 9 months. For the most part it could be a great phone, until I began running into several issues. It's very delicate. If you drop it, which we do once in awhile by accident, the phone cracks and breaks into pieces. I had to super glue mine back together since Sprint was giving me a hard time about fixing it.

Second, my incoming text messages would be repeated up to 10x by the same person. Sprint didn't know why or how to fix it. They had to wipe the slate clean to start a new. This happened about 3-4 times over the 9 months.

Finally by month 9 the microphone just stopped working for no reason. Callers could no longer hear me unless I was on my headset or turning the speaker phone on.

That was the last straw when I finally just got a whole new phone before I was eligible for one. Not everyone's issues with a particular phone are the same, but this is what I experienced with this one.
